Lavish Love - A MakeupGeek Look & Review

Hello, my lovelies! I hope you all had a stellar weekend and that Monday isn't being too harsh on you!

I'm here today with a luscious look using MakeupGeek eyeshadows! I was contacted by MakeupGeek a few weeks ago and I was oh so excited. I've heard nothing but good things about their shadows and I know a lot of you have been interested and wondering about them, so I went ahead and accepted. I was sent 12 of them of my choice. I tried to get a good array of naturals and colors.

I was aiming to create a wearable prom look, but I went a little overboard...I just couldn't help myself! The end result was a romantic, smoldering yet retro-ish, boho look that I actually quite like, and I hope you do too! This a long, picture heavy post, so get ready!

FAUX Lashes in Lace, $13.00.
"These lashes are naughty and nice!  Find your inner siren in this soft, flirty lash with a touch of sexy black lace. Throw these on with your five inch stilettos and you are guaranteed to feel like the sauciest girl in the room."

Continuing on with my Faux Lash collab...I absolutely loooove these lashes! I love the alternating lengths, and especially the unexpected lace. They definitely take any look to the next level and give you an instant glamorous look. Check them out HERE.

Let me start this review off by saying that all my reviews are 100% honest and unbiased. If I love something, I will rave about it to you guys...who wouldn't want to share something amazing? If I do not like something, I'll let you guys know as well.

I am very impressed by the quality of most of these shadows. They are very comparable to MAC eyeshadows for a fraction of the price (they start at $5.99 in pan form, and $7.99 for compact form). They are smooth, pigmented and blend like a dream. They last all day long for me with no creasing. Eyeshadow pan weight is 1.8 G/ 0.064 oz. I noticed that their natural shades that have a shimmery finish are overall better quality than their matte, bright colors like Fuji for example.

All swatches are over bare skin, no primer and applied with a finger.

Shimma Shimma: This is the perfect highlighting shade for fair-medium skin tones. It's lovely pinkish/champagne color with a shimmery metallic finish.
Moondust: The perfect taupe color that suits any eye color. Shimmery, metallic finish.
Mercury: A medium metallic silver.

Gold Digger: A lovely, shimmery gold color that is a staple in any makeup collection.
Mango Tango: An orangey, peachy-pink with flecks of gold. PERFECT as a blush!
Sensuous: A deep, shimmery brownish-plum with specks of silver. Super sultry.

Envy: A blackened green that is crazy pigmented. One of my new all time favorite colors. Metallic finish.
Unicorn: A shimmery bluish purple. Pretty in the pan, but disappointing as a swatch. Not very pigmented and streaky.
Fuji: A super matte, apple green. I was really excited for this color, but sadly I got my hopes up. It's absolutely beautiful in the pan and is very soft to the touch, but the color payoff is poor.

Mermaid: This color is absolutely breathtaking. Not only is very pigmented, but the color is superb. It's a metallic bluish-teal with gold reflects that looks just like the ocean on a summer day. Just beautiful.
Poolside: Another gorgeous shade. It resembles Mermaid, but is brighter and not as metallic. It's a shimmery, true turquoise/teal with gold sparkle.
Corrupt: Quite possibly the best black eyeshadow I have ever owned and tried. It's intensely pigmented and a little bit goes a long way. You need this black eyeshadow in your collection! Matte finish.

I really hope you guys enjoyed the look, review and swatches! And sorry about the super long post, my fingers are about to fall off, lol!

If you've been looking at purchasing some new shadows or have been on the fence about MakeupGeek eyeshadows, go for it! They are excellent eyeshadows, especially for the price. I would aim for the shimmery/metallic shades and stay away from the purples and mattes (besides Corrupt...you need that black. You can thank me later). You can check out all the shades that MakeupGeek has to offer at their store, www.makeupgeek.com/store. Special thanks to MakeupGeek for letting me try these out.

If you own any of these, which is your favorite? Or if you have any colors that I don't own, please let me know what you recommend so I can try it out.

Stay happy, healthy and fabulous and I'll see you all soon!

  1. As usual, you look amazing! Some of the MakeupGeek eyeshadows look pretty too though it's disappointing that Unicorn and Fuji apply so poorly. I know Sugarpill is coming out with a lime green and hopefully that one's much better!
