Beauty Blogger of the Month - September

Hello, beauties! If you follow me on my Facebook page, you might remember me asking if you guys would be interested in me doing a monthly featurette where I showcase my favorite artists/bloggers. The vast majority of you guys said yes, so I went for it! These monthly posts will include people that inspire me, I admire, adore, and respect . Also included with the featurette is an interview with the artist, along with an exclusive makeup challenge inspired by a photo chosen by yours truly! Before we get to everything, I would personally like to thank the amazing Meredith Jessica of Pigments & Palettes for inspiring me with this idea!

Let's get to it!

Nicola is not only insanely beautiful and talented, but she is also a great friend of mine, so this first blogger of the month is extra special! Her and I share a unique bond and we have a lot in common, and it has blossomed into a lovely friendship that I cherish dearly! You may recognize this beauty from Instagram and Tumblr, where she is very well known as respected among the beauty community. Her looks are always perfectly blended and her eyeliner is so on point and sharp, it can slice through air. She recently started a proper blog so she can list her prodcuts and explain her looks, so please do yourself a favor and follow her over at, and follow her Instagram at

I chose this image of this brilliant butterfly because of it's iridescent colors and dreamy look. It screamed Nicola to me. Here's what she came up with!

Please introduce yourself!
Hi! I'm Nicola, and I'm a 20 year old Aquarius gal born and raised in the North West of sunny *ahem* England. I am a slave to all things beauty related and adore nothing more than getting all dressed up (even if I have nowhere to go!).

Asides from makeup, I enjoy music and concerts (usually something heavy that I can go crazy to!), reading, baking, procrastination (heh), all things vintage, fashion, the dark, weird and the wonderful, all things spooky and paranormal and last but not least - nerding out with my video games. Family is everything to me, and I believe the one true key to a fulfilled life is to surround yourself with great people!

Anyway - I hope you enjoy this little slice of me! xo

Why did you start blogging?
I had been posting my looks around social networking websites such as Instagram and Tumblr for a couple of years, and since I was getting a lot of questions regarding what products I used for certain looks I decided to put together a blog so I could list all of the products I had used in one place - this way I could refer people to my blog without having to repeat myself! I also created my blog as an archive that I can look back on and see what skills I have picked up on over the months, what I need to work on more, and to generally observe my own progression.

What are the best and worst things about blogging?
The best part of blogging is undoubtedly sharing your passion with hundreds of other people and connecting with others from all over the world. I LOVE that blogging creates a doorway to a tonne of amazing people that you share a mutual interest with. As for the worst thing, I honestly can't think of one! I adore blogging so much that it now takes up a large portion of my spare time and I thoroughly enjoy that. It keeps me occupied and keeps me on my toes.

What do you do when you aren't blogging?
Family is super important to me, so I try and spend as much time with them as I possibly can. I also divide my time between home, and where my older sister resides so we can hang out and spend quality time together that we otherwise wouldn't have. I also love reading, trying to get to as many music shows as possible, and of course, giving makeovers!

What do you think is your best work?
My personal favourite look that I've created up to date is one of my most recent ones - 'Magnificent Midnight' ( It's definitely a simple look that only involves a few different colours but I found it so strikingly beautiful in person and on camera. The shadows I used are currently some of my all time favourites, too!

What beauty product can you not live without
Ahhh, do I have to pick just one?! I would have to say... Hmmm, tough one... Mascara! I think no matter how little makeup you're wearing, mascara can make such a massive different to your overall appearance. It instantly opens up your eyes and gives the appearance of looking more wide awake. I've also noticed when I've been doing makeup on more mature ladies that a coat of mascara instantly appears to give a fresher and much more younger look.

What was your biggest beauty faux pas?
Ooooh, no! The first thing that springs to mind is back in high school, I used to over-pluck my eyebrows until they were almost non-existent and then used pencil on a super thin, ridiculously arched/high eyebrow. The mere thought makes me want the ground to swallow me up!

What beauty-related thing do you absolutely suck at?
I'm admittedly not great at applying eyeliner on other people and it's definitely something that I'm currently trying to better myself at.

What is one makeup rule that you preach, but always break?
Probably advising people not to blow on their makeup brushes to remove excess product. I never do this when I'm applying makeup onto somebody else but every now and again I do sometimes have a sneaky little blow on my own brushes out of habit when doing my own makeup. It's not good!

What are your personal favorite blogs?
This is such a tough question as I am an avid reader of so many fantastic blogs. However, I absolutely love Temptalia, Grzee, Pigments and Palettes and of course, Bows and Curtseys!

Besides makeup and beauty, what is your biggest passion?
Probably anything to do with cinema. I'm a huge film buff, though more specifically I adore classic movies and old Hollywood actors and actresses. Music and History are close runner-ups though!

Tell us 3 fun facts about yourself:

-My first job after I left school was as a trainee dental nurse - I detested it!
-I've never been out of the UK before, nor have a flown on an aeroplane.
-I've never broken a bone (touch wood!).

What is your most guilty pleasure?
Cheesy foods - the amount I eat is SO unhealthy but it's SOO good.

Who is your celebrity crush?
I am always swooning after multiple celebrities at any one time but right now I have my eye on Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Henry Cavill. My older man crush is and always will be Jack Nicholson - but shhhh.

What are your plans for the future?
To make a bigger success out of myself when it concerns my makeup. To hopefully be able to work for a reputable brand some day and to work harder in making my blog the best I possibly can. xo

I hope you guys enjoyed the first installment of my Blogger of the Month series! Thank you so much Nic for being a part of this! Please make sure you guys follow Nicola over at her blog and Instagram! You won't regret it. Until next time!
