Lime Crime China Doll Palette Review & Swatches

Yesterday, I created a look using Lime Crime's China Doll Palette and many of you were interested about this fun and whimsical palette. Keep on reading for my review, swatches and product shots!

In true Lime Crime fashion, the palette was in-cased in this super adorable envelope-style box! (Told you, Unicorn Mail!)

The actual palette itself is in a cute but sturdy tin case that is covered in what I believe is fish scales. The same pattern is on the eyeshadows.

This is Lime Crime's first palette/pressed shadows and they definitely do not fail in the pigmentation department. I was surprised at how intense the colors were and I love the texture of these. They are smooth, almost buttery and blend like a dream! They are very opaque and quite long lasting.

From Left to Right:

Fly Dragon Fly: A matte, warm, fiery red; surprisingly wearable.

Parasol: A beautiful matte, sky blue that is really bright for a pastel shade.

Goldfish: A gorgeous yellow gold shade with shimmery/metallic finish.

Jade-O-Lade: A unique and stunning matte, teal-ish forest green. My favorite.

Lotus Noir: A definite must in this palette, a matte and opaque black.

Overall, this palette is really nice and is a must-have if you're a big Lime Crime fan. The choice of colors are definitely unique and are unlike any other palettes I've seen. As you can tell from the swatches, they are really bright and intense. If you want a more toned down look, skip the primer. I'd say the only downfall is the inside of the palette (not a huge fan of the plastic surrounding the shadows), but like I said before, this is their first palette and there is always room for improvement! (Note: I am aware of Lime Crime's history and recent controversy over this palette. However, I am an all-around makeup lover and will try out almost any brand (as long as they are cruelty-free) and will give anyone a chance. My reviews are on the products only and are 100% honest and un-biased.)

Wicked Wanderlust

I came home the other day and saw a lovely purple box awaiting me on my front porch. Excited, I quickly realized it was from Lime Crime (aka Unicorn Mail). I opened it up and it was a birthday gift from Doe Deere, and was pleased to see that it was the ChinaDoll Palette! The colors are all super pretty, and I just had to create a look with them.

The packaging and the names of the shadows/palette are Chinese inspired and got me thinking of how much I've always wanted to travel the world. This also helped me come up with the name of this look as well.

Hunger Games Inspired - Katniss Everdeen "The Girl Who Was on Fire" Video Tutorial!

Hunger Games District 12 Inspired Look

If you've been following me for a while now, you might know that I am a huge Hunger Games fan and that I created two looks last year inspired by Katniss - one inspired by her environment (forest, nature) and the other was inspired by her jewel dress and the quote, "The girl who was on fire". Since the movie release is right around the corner and I am getting more and more excited, I decided to create another look inspired by the series. This time, I focused more on District 12 where Katniss and Peeta are from. District 12 is one of the poorest, most ridiculed districts in the nation of Panem. Located in the Appalachian Mountains, District 12 specializes in coal mining. So I put together an intense, smokey and firey look to represent this district. I'm very pleased with the result and it's one of my favorite looks I've done in a while!

Hi everyone! I was on Tumblr a few weeks ago, you know...doing my thang, when I came across a photo-set of the beautiful Morpho butterfly. I've always had a fascination with butterflies and other insects/bugs alike, but I am so intrigued by these beauties that I just HAD to do a look inspired by them (as you can probably tell by my hair, this look was done a while ago). Not only are they known for their striking beauty, but they are known for their size as well...their wingspan can reach up to 8 inches!

Coincidentally, I came across a look Avril Lavigne wore a few years ago that is very similar to mine.

Spring Serendipity

Hi guys and gals! Happy Friday! It's really starting to feel like Spring here in sunny Los Angeles, so I had this sudden urge to create a look with bright orange lips. I know some people shy away from it thinking it's too bold and out there, or that it won't match your skin tone. Well guess what? Orange is a universal shade that flatters everyone.

Yes, you read that correctly. It instantly brightens up your skin and warms your complexion that makes you look and feel ready for the warmer weather. It's also a fun alternative to red or hot pink lips. A lot of people say to keep the eyes simple when wearing orange lips, but here at Bows & Curtseys, simple is not allowed! You CAN wear bold orange lips and color on your eyes without looking like a clown. As long as you wear a complimentary color on your peepers in a toned down way and add some warmth to it, you can get away with it and look fab! Try wearing purple, blue or green on your water-line, or even right about your regular liner. Oh, and you cannot forget the full, luscious lashes, either!

Lana Del Rey "Born to Die" Inspired Look

Hello, my lovebugs! I was on Tumblr a few weeks ago and discovered an artist named Lana Del Rey. I was immediately intrigued by her unique beauty and style, so I just had to see what all the buzz was about. I listened to a few of her songs on Spotify, and was instantly hooked. Her music isn't for everyone, but it's different and I like that. Her music sort of reminds me of a weird mix of Adele and Amy Winehouse. I watched her music video for the single "Born to Die" and loved the modern 60's makeup and flower crown, I just had to do a look inspired by it.

The neutral, yet slightly dramatic cut crease and intense winged liner gives a super sexy and classic look that can be worn by almost everyone, and will definitely not go unnoticed. The bold red lip ties everything together perfectly. (Flower crown optional!)

Despite recent scrutiny about her SNL performance, she is still a gorgeous and talented girl with lovely makeup!

My lips aren't as plump and juicy as hers, but out-lining your lips a bit further out than they are naturally can make them appear much larger!

I made these "roses" using tissue paper...improvise people, IMPROVISE!

Glorious Gleam

Hi all! I'm back from my mini vacation...I had loads of fun and was super relaxed. To say that it was much needed is an understatement. Anyway, I have a sexy, sultry and warm look for you guys to warm up your winter blues, and also a review!

I was contacted by the sweet people of Gleam by Melanie Mills and they asked me if I wanted to try out their Lip Radiance Lip Gloss and Body Radiance lotion. Of course I said yes, and was excited to try everything out after checking out their website and watching the videos! Melanie Mills is an Emmy Award winning make-up artist who used to be the head make-up artist for Dancing with the Stars, so that made me even more excited knowing and seeing how beautiful everyone on that show looks. BODY RADIANCE

Before I begin, let me just state that all my reviews are 100% honest and un-biased. Gleam Body Radiance was Melanie's first campaign and was very successful. It's what she uses on the dancers and contestants on DWTS, and their skin glows and looks absolutely flawless! It's been used by such celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Hudson and Kristie Alley, just to name a few. It's a body makeup that she developed specifically for the show, and it can be used by anyone with any skin tone. The formula is hydrating, velvety, creamy and dries to a non-transferable finish. It diminishes blemishes and other imperfections, such as wrinkles. It is available in four shades (Light Gold, Rose Gold, Bronze Gold and Deep Gold), and are priced at $15 for 1oz, $30 for 2oz. and $40 for 3.5oz.

The shade I picked, Light Gold, cancels out the redness and/or ruddiness on my skin and makes my skin look like it's glowing from within. The smell is divine as well and isn't over-powering. Gleam Body Radiance is made with water and olive oil, jojoba seed oil, safflower seed oil, the antioxidants Japanese green tea and white tea, aloe leaf extract, and brown seaweed (a hydrating marine extract that stimulates synthesis of hyaluronic acid and increases elasticity). So not only does it make your skin look good, but it's good for it as well! You can use this on your face too (I used it as a highlight for my look). I cannot wait to wear this (especially on my legs) during the summer! I used to swear by Jergen's Soft Shimmer lotion, but it never stays on my skin for more than 2 hours. Gleam lasted practically all day for me.

LIP RADIANCE

Gleam Lip Radiance is stunning...just, stunning. It's such a high quality product and I was so impressed.. It's smooth, creamy, highly pigmented, moisturizing and not sticky...just what I look for in a gloss. It shares many of the amazing ingredients as the body radiance (jojoba oil, sunflower oil, vitamin E), and it feels so good on my lips. It has a light and pleasant vanilla smell that reminds me of MAC lipsticks.I usually get annoyed of the feeling of lip glosses, like my lips can't breath and they start to feel heavy...but I didn't get that with these and they last forever too. I chose the shade "With My Heels On" and oh baby, it is beautiful. It's a super hot-pink, almost red shade that is incredibly pretty. It's a medium-full coverage formula and is super comfortable on my lips and I'm just so in love with it. I also adore the naughty, tongue-in-cheek names such as "Up Against the Wal" and "Pop My Cork". The packaging is chic and fancy! There are seven shades available and are priced at $24 each.

Make Up Forever HD Foundation Review & Swatches

Hi guys! The kind people over at Make Up Forever were nice and generous enough to send me a foundation to try and review for my readers. I was super excited to receive this in the mail, as I have been dying to try their HD foundation after hearing and reading stellar reviews on it.

This isn't a new product, but it's one that people are typically very curious about and want to try...and for good reason!

From Make Up Forever's website: "The MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Complexion products use innovative formulas to create a new generation of make up which is both invisible on HD cameras and to the naked eye. The HD Foundation is an oil-free medium-to-full coverage liquid foundation which covers skin imperfections, while remaining invisible on-screen and in real life. Its extremely fine texture is supple and easy to apply. Enriched with moisturizing agents, it leaves the skin soft and radiant. It is available in a wide range of shades to suit all skin tones."

The foundation retails at $40 USD at 1.1 oz. It's a bit pricey, but if you're feeling a bit spendy, then you're in for a real treat! You can purchase it online at Sephora.com or at Sephora stores in the US. I believe Ulta carries it as well.

COVERAGE

Make Up Forever states that this is a medium-full coverage foundation, but I find it to be more on the sheer side. I have combination/oily skin that is acne prone so I needed a bit more coverage than that. It hid most of my redness and skin imperfections but my skin still needed a bit of help with concealer and powder. Two layers of foundation was good enough for me. I love that the formula is buildable without looking cakey. If you have really great skin with minor to no imperfections, this would be perfect coverage for you.

LONGEVITY & WEAR

I wore this the other day for about 8 hours, and was pretty impressed. Since my skin is a bit oily, I did need to touch up here and there but nothing major and nothing some powder couldn't fix. At the end of the night, it wore a tiny bit, but my skin still looked nice. It looks absolutely amazing in every lighting and like I stated earlier, it does not look cakey. It's like your skin, but a million times better. The foundation has a very pleasant smell to it that does not irritate my sensitive skin.

COLOR

The color I chose, #118 Flesh (for light skin with beige undertones) is sadly a little dark for my skin at the moment, but I can get away with it if I use a lighter powder shade.This could possibly be my summer shade! I am typically a MAC N4 shade which is pretty light with both pink and yellow undertones. If I were given the chance to pick another shade, I'd probably get #115 Ivory (for light skin with pink undertones) or #117 Marble (for light skin with yellow undertones) or better yet a mix of the two since my skin tone is neutral. They have a very wide range of colors (26, to be exact) that can suit anyone from the lightest of ivories to the darkest of ebonies.

OVERALL

This is definitely one of the nicest foundations I have tried and I believe is worth the money. The pump is awesome too. My skin looks airbrushed with a soft focus effect and makes me feel like I'm walking the red carpet. The foundation also lives up to it's name; it photographs beautifully and makes the skin look almost flawless. It's like magic! Photoshop in a bottle even, lol. It really is a great foundation and I suggest you give it a try! I give it a 4 out of 5 stars.

Mesmerizing Mirage - A Kiss My Sass Look & Review

Hello everyone, I hope you guys had a fun Super Bowl weekend! I was a little disappointed that the Patriots lost (we were in a Super Bowl pool and almost won $300, damn)! Oh well, everything happens for a reason, right?

Anyway, I created a look the other day using Kiss My Sass Cosmetics. I am so in love with these indie mineral makeup companies, I cannot get enough! I wanted to create something warm, summery and somewhat beachy and came up with this. I thought it would be nice to imagine being on a beautiful beach or oasis sippin' on a margarita....yum! I instantly thought of a desert oasis when I did this and I think it suits every skin and eye color!

REVIEW:

The ever so sweet Elizabeth from Kiss My Sass Cosmetics let me choose $15 worth of stuff over at kissmysasscosmetics.com and as you can see below, you can get quite a bit of goodies with 15 bucks! Since most of my looks are focused on the eyes, I went ahead and chose all eyeshadows, but they also offers lip and face products as well! The shadows are like most other mineral loose pigments I've tried; incredibly soft, smooth, pigmented and absolutely gorgeous. The colors are unique and fun...even the name of the company is right up my alley. I love that you can order sample sizes to try out before actually purchasing the full sized shadow. She was also kind enough to include 2 samples of their Matte Eye Primers. They are buttery soft and creamy and would be ideal for someone with dry eyelids.

EYESHADOWS

Sandcastle is a smooth, matte cream/ivory shade that's perfect for highlighting.

Coma White is a silky white with a pink/purple shimmer.

Piercing Parlor is a gorgeous silver with a metallic sheen. One of my faves!

Charcoal suits it's name well; a dark matte gray and it's perfect for smoky eyes!

Vegas is a bright sparkling gold, and is simply orgasmic. I have a weakness for gold pigments!

Purple Poppy is a beautiful shimmery magenta/purple that screams spring time.

Reign Over Me is a blue based purple with a turquoise sheen and pink sparkles. Photos do NOT do this shade justice, one of the prettiest colors I've seen in a long time.

Sailor's Kiss is a super pretty vibrant blue with gold flecks that is reminiscent on the sea.

Poison Ivy is a stunning vibrant green with gold & copper sheen. Simply beautiful.

Elessa sent me two pairs of her Pave Crystal Lip Earrings - one pair in teal, and the other in silver. These are SO cute and are a great size, not too big or small and are lightweight. perfect for a makeup lover or is you have a lip obsession! Aren't they purdy? I love the fact that the silver ones have two different types of crystals. Makes them unique and brings more depth and texture to the earrings. And boy, do these sparkle!

OH. MY GOD. These earrings are to die for. I just love them, have been wearing them every day since I got them and I get tons and tons of compliments. What I was most impressed with was the fact that they are so lightweight for their size. I was nervous that my ears were going to hurt after a while, but that wasn't the case at all. Also, Elessa's jewelry is nickel and lead free which is a HUGE plus for me, especially since I have crazy sensitive skin. These are priced at $19.99.

The kind people over at GlamourDollEyes.com generously let me pick 6 products from their website and I was very excited to, and it took me DAYS to decide what I wanted. Everything is so pretty, haha. I love discovering and trying out new products and companies and sharing them with you all. The following review is 100% honest and unbiased. I wouldn't rave about something to you guys if I truly didn't like it. So read on, and enjoy the pretty colors!

I was seriously impressed with these loose mineral shadows! There are tons of indie makeup companies out there, and Glamour Doll Eyes really stands out from the crowd. Their packaging is cute and grungy and totally fun. I also really like the fact that the names of a lot of their products are named by customers/fans. So sweet. You can tell that a lot of thought and effort are put into these products. Knowing that they are also cruelty-free and mostly vegan is a HUGE plus in my book, and they are also very affordable.

As for the shadows themselves, they are great! They are smooth, velvety and pigmented. They blend easily and nicely, and the color payoff is amazing. I adore all the color choices and the names are whimsical and creative. They also offer glitters which are to die for! I used their red glitter, Fierce in my last post, Broken Hearts Parade. You can check that out HERE. Fierce is incredibly sparkly, fine and rich. You can barely tell it's glitter when you touch it. I will be definitely purchasing some in the future and build a collection! I also got a small sample of "Foil Me" which is serum-like primer that intensifies the shadows and/or glitter.

Their full sized Eyeshadows are priced at an affordable $6.00, and their Eye Lights (glitter) are priced at $4.00. (Full Jar (No Sifter): 2-2.5 grams of product in a 5 gram jar, and Full Jar (With Sifter): 1.5-2 grams of product in a 5 gram jar). As you can see, you get less product with a sifter.

Sample sizes start at $1.25 (.5 gram in a baggie) or $2.25 for a sample jar (1 gram of product in a 5 gram jar).

Oh. St. Valentine's Day...we either love it, or hate it. I'm a definite lover, only because I'm married and I have an excuse to devour chocolate...I for one, never really hated Valentine's day. I've always loved the decorations, candy, and just expressing love in general. It is an extremely commercial holiday though. I believe we should be able to express our love for our significant others everyday of the year.

So, I created this anti-Valentines Day look for all of you that want to tell Cupid to SUCK IT. I wanted this look to scream, "I really don't give a f**k about chocolate or conversation hearts, and I don't need love to be happy!". Yeah, something like that. This is definitely bold and bright, with tons of glitter and an intense crease. Wear this to a club, or anti V-day party, and flaunt your angst!

Dream Catcher

Hello, lovers! :)

So I was in laying in bed the other day and was staring at the dream catcher that my dad gave me a few years ago. Not only is it pretty to look at, but it makes me think of the warm months ahead and it also inspired this look! Appropriate for most skin and eye colors, and I think can be worn as day look if it's toned down a bit. The cool teal/turquoise hues and the warm copper crease play off each other perfectly and ties it all together. In case you're wondering what a dream catchers is:

"Dream catchers of twigs, sinew, and feathers have been woven since ancient times by Ojibwa people. Mila Kunis 2012 Golden Globes Inspired Look

Hi again, I hope you all had a great weekend! If you're like me, I mainly watch award shows to gawk at the gorgeous celebs, drool over the amazing gowns, and of course, admire and study their makeup!

There were many gorgeous looks this year, and I noticed that most of the female celebs leaned towards simple, natural, yet slightly dramatic looks.

My favorite this year was hands down, Mila Kunis'. She never fails to look elegant and sophisticated...but what I love the most about her makeup, is that she always has an edgy feel to it. It's never just "simple". Her makeup artist, Tracey Levy for Dior said, "I was inspired by the dress to create a fresh, sophisticated look with a lot of sex appeal".

This year, she rocked a natural and soft eye with a twist - a dark, navy blue liner. I instantly fell in love with this look and immediately wanted to recreate it, with my own touches of course. I think this look is perfect for Valentine's day, or even a first date. It still has that sweet and innocent feel to it, but then the surprise blue liner gives it a fun and interesting spin.

Matte Black, Soft in both texture and color. Applied wet it is a true deep black. Great for adding to other colors to make a colorful smoky eye.

REVIEW

When I first got contacted by Beauty from the Earth, I'll admit that I squealed a bit. I first heard of the company about 2 years ago on YouTube and have been wanting to try them out ever since...I just never had the chance to. When I went on the website to pick out my shades, I was completely blown away and overwhelmed by the HUGE selection of colors. I was pleasantly surprised to see the price tag as well, (Full size jars are $6.50 USD and sample size jars are $2.00 USD).

Also, BFTE's Facebook Page recreated my Radiant Rainbow Liner look. You can see it HERE., which was super exciting!

Lemme tell you, their shipping is lightning fast! My order shipped on Monday and I got it on Wednesday. NICE. The consistency and texture of the shadow is super fine, soft and these blend like a dream! I dipped my finger into one of them to swatch, and didn't even realize my finger was already in the shadow! They're light as air. Like most mineral shadows, they are crazy pigmented and last for hours. I noticed that these don't stain my skin like other mineral shadows do, which is surprising for how intense they are.

Foiling these make them a million times more intense and gorgeous. Take a look for yourself!

Lime Crime Lipstick Collection - Review and Swatches!

As most of you know by now, I have a crush on Lime Crime. Not only is the packaging absolutely fabulous (bright pink tubes with glittery, holographic unicorns? Come on!). but their lipsticks are incredibly pigmented, and super long wearing. There aren't many other companies out there that offer the unique colors that Lime Crime does.

As you can see, these babies have an intense color payoff! You don't need much at all to get an opaque, solid color.

-Description: "Luscious, glossy black with 100% coverage. The most opaque black you'll ever try!"

-Review: Styletto is a smooth, glossy, super dark black. It does stain, so I do I recommend using a lip liner with this one to prevent feathering. I think the glossiness takes this black lippy to another level. Definitely luscious.

-Description: "Brown-based retro red. Part of our LIP NOIR Collection."

Review: Glamour 101 goes on semi-glossy and this bad boy last for hours upon hours. The formula is just right...not too wet or dry, and leaves behind a red stain on your lips. I typically look for that in a lipstick, so I really enjoy that. One of my all time favorite reds.

-Description: "True-red with a neon note that flatters all skin tones! This shade combines lipstick and lipstain for prolonged wear. Due to the nature of pigment this shade may provide less coverage on darker complexions."

-Review: Retrofuturist is another gorgeous red. It's a true, fire engine red that is super hot. I also like that this one leaves a stain behind as well.

-Description: "Deep, saturated fuchsia. This shade combines lipstick and lipstain for prolonged wear. Due to the nature of pigment this shade may provide less coverage on darker complexions."

-Review: Centrifucshia is one of the best lipsticks in the collection, in my opinion. I wear this one a lot as a lip stain (dab it on with fingers) and it looks amazing. This shade also lasts and lasts and last. I ate, talked, bit, worked out in this and it hardly budged. It leaves behind a nice "just bitten" stain on your lips as well.

-Description: "Blue-based neon pink. Full coverage on all complexions, dark to light. This shade combines lipstick and lipstain for prolonged wear."

-Review: I love this shade! Countessa Fluorescent screams Barbie/Nicki Minaj to me. It's creamy, bright hot pink, and of course, opaque. A staple in your collection.

-Description: "Pastel pink with a neon note. Full coverage on all complexions, from dark to light."

-Review: Great Pink Planet is a baby doll pink shade does a great job on covering my naturally red lips. I usually have a problem wearing lighter colors and have to mute out my lips with foundation/concealer but that wasn't the case this time.

-Description: "True, luminous orange without red undertones. Inspired by Doe Deere's grandmother whose signature shade was bright tangerine! Due to the nature of pigment this shade may provide less coverage on darker complexions."

-Review: Don't be scared of this bright, orange color! My Beautiful Rocket is absolutely gorgeous, and will be perfect for the upcoming spring season. You get the impact of a red lip, but with a twist. It's super fresh looking!

-Description: "Buttery, softened orange -- think creamsicle!"

-Review: Oh my goodness. Is this shade unique or what? It's a beautiful, orange-creamsicle, summery shade that will definitely turns heads and have people asking what you're wearing. The slight vanilla scent makes me love it even more. You need Cosmopop in your life!

-Description: "Pale, peachy-nude. Because extra-pale lips are beautiful!"

-Review: This is it guys. My long journey of finding the perfect nude shade is finally over. Coquette is unlike any other nude I have tried. It completely covers my naturally red lips and the peachy-pink undertones compliments my skin tone so well without making me look dead. It's creamy, yet a tiny bit on the dry side which helps with the staying power. I cannot wait to wear this with a dark, smoky eye!

-Description: "Boutique crème de lavender for post-modern Marie Antoinettes."

-Review: D'Lilac is superb. The pale, pastel lavender color reminds me of Easter and the flowers that bloom during that time of year. The color can also give anyone the illusion of a tan. This shade has a bit of a different texture than most of the others (dryer and thicker), so applying with a brush is recommended.

-Description: "Medium violet-purple lipstick with a neon note. Hue as mysterious as the animal itself. This color combines lipstick and lipstain for prolonged wear."

-Review: Airborne Unicorn is such a pretty color and wearable for a purple too. It's flattering on lots of skin tones, and it's a perfect statement shade without being too out-there.

-Description: "BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! Medium grey with lavender undertones. Part of our LIP NOIR Collection."

-Review: Chinchilla is possibly my favorite shade in the collection. There is no known dupe for this color, as it is incredibly unique. Goes on smooth, non-drying and with a hint of glossiness. I cannot express how gorgeous this shade is, and how surprisingly wearable it is for being a different color. This lipstick sells out really fast, so if you want to purchase one, do it now before they're all gone!

-Description: "Intense bubblegum blue. Finally a blue lipstick that gives you 100% coverage! Wear alone as a fashion statement, or layer over others to create your own unique shades."

-Review: This color is intense! It pops against any skin tone and would look remarkable on those with dark skin. It reminds of bubblegum ice cream, and is crazy fun. Like D'Lilac, No She Didn't is a little dryer and thicker than the others.

-Description: "Pastel Mint-Green! The color we've all been waiting for!"

-Review: Mint To Be is a dynamic, pale and pastel minty green. This color is probably the most opaque of them all and the thickest as well. It is a tiny bit drying, but nothing some lip balm can't fix, and the stunning color makes up for it!

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Overall, I really enjoy Lime Crime's products. I love the unique colors, the uber cute packaging, and the intensity and pigmentation of these lipsticks are unlike any other lipsticks I've tried. They might not be for everyone, but I tend to really enjoy lippies that leave behind a stain and are a bit more on the dry side rather than extra slick.

Keep note that these lipsticks are softer than most other lipsticks, so keep them in a cool, dry place and be gentle with them.

So if you want something that will last hours upon hours and shades that are out of this world, then give them a shot!

Hello everyone, and Happy New Year! I hope you all rang in 2012 on a good note. 2011 was such a great year for bowsandcurtseys. In just 6 short months, I have managed to gain over 1500 followers (insane...), I've met some amazing people, came across lots of talented bloggers, discovered some great companies, and of course, made some new awesome friends along the way. So, for my first post of the year, I have for you my much requested everyday look. I did one of these before (you can check that out HERE), but this one is a bit more fun, and dramatic. This might be a little much for some of you, but for me, it's just right. It's a neutral, smokey, shimmery and sultry look that will totally grab attention, without screaming, "Look at me!"....

Bonjour, mesdames et messieurs! I hope you all had a magical holiday with friends, family and loved ones. I had a great one and it was nice to relax and enjoy the good company.

Just because...

I really hope you guys enjoyed this look. I know it's been a while, and I truly apologize. The holidays are an extremely busy time for me, so I hope you all forgive me. So once the new year starts, I am planning on filming more (and better) tutorials for you guys! I've been getting a lot of requests for my Mystical Nebula look, so that will be the first one that I do.

Have a lovely NYE and an even better new year. I hope 2012 is filled with joy, happiness and good health and that it is even better than 2011 for you all. This year was definitely one of the toughest ones yet for me, but I believe it has made me stronger. I went through a lot of sorrow, pain and sadness, but I cannot let that stop me. I can only hope that 2012 will bring me good vibes.

SO! What is your new years resolution? My resolution for this year was to be more assertive and stop being a doormat, and I totally accomplished it. For 2012, I would like to take better care of my health, and not to sweat the small things anymore. Life is way too short and fragile to worry about everything.

Silver Lining

Hey, hey, hey! TGIF, right?! Is it just me, or is this month going by at the speed of light? This year deserves a speeding ticket. Funny how time goes by so slowly when you're a kid, and now all you want for Christmas is more time on the clock! Oh well...C'est la vie!

Here I have yet another holiday appropriate look with one of my all time favorite combos: silver and pink! It's fun, yet elegant in my opinion. The eye look is pretty simple to do as well. All you need are white, silver and black shadows (shimmers look best for the holidays) and some simple blending. These are probably the easiest colors to blend, since they are monochromatic. Add some glitter (of course) for an even more sparkly, look-at-me gaze!

Hey everyone! I'm back (and sooner than expected) with part two of the MakeupBee and Lime Crime collaboration! I'm actually really happy with this look, and I did not want to wash it off, lol. It's totally holiday party appropriate too, and can be worn with any eye color. If green isn't your thing, simply switch to another jewel toned shade. Also, who says you can't do bold eyes with a bold lip? I think it's acceptable for a night time holiday event. But if you aren't brave enough to do so, pair this up with a soft pink lip, or even a nude shade. Whatever you decide, this is definitely a look that will not go unnoticed!

Lime Crime Magic Dust Eyeshadow in Mischief Managed (Retail $14.00 USD)

My review is the same as the previous shade I reviewed. You can read that HERE. Mischief Managed is a medium toned grass green with lots of reflective shimmer. Basically, it is a loose pigmented that has a huge color payoff. They are smooth, and super vibrant. I love these!

I ADORE THIS LIPSTICK! It's my current favorite red lippy. not only is the packaging disgustingly CUTE (you can't go wrong with sparkles and unicorns), It is the perfect shade of red for my skintone (which is fair/light with neutral undertones). I think it can be worn with lots of other skin tones as well. It is described as an opaque wine, brown-based retro red. I don't really see the brown to be honest, but it doesn't really matter to me, it's

gawwgeous This shade is part of their Lip Noir collection, so I'm not too sure if this is a permanent item. It goes on semi-glossy and this bad boy last for hours upon hours. The formula is just right...not too wet or dry, and leaves behind a red stain on your lips. I typically look for that in a lipstick, so I really enjoy that. Thumbs up!

Lime Crime Carousel Lip Gloss in Candy Apple (Retail $17.00 USD)

Hands down, my favorite gloss in the collection. The color literally looks like a candy apple! It is described as a deep ruby-red with crimson flecks of glitter. This screams holiday glamour to me. It is crazy pigmented, just like Kaleidoscope. All you need is one coat, and you're good. It's a bit sticky, but that only helps with the lasting power. I wore this out the other day and got so many compliments. It lasted for hours with no touch up needed and left a nice stain behind with glitter after it faded away. It also has a lovely vanilla scent, which I enjoy.
