Phantom of the Opera - Halloween Look

Halloween is right around the corner and every year around this time, I struggle with costume ideas. I like my costumes and makeup to be unique and creative. But sometimes, that can be a struggle because pretty much everything under the sun has already been done. So I decided to re-create a classic and beloved character, The Phantom of the Opera, and give it a Bows & Curtseys twist! This is definitely going to be my costume this year, and I'm stoked about it!

I didn't do an exact recreation for various reasons. The Phantom, also known as Erik, has been depicted many times in many ways in films, plays and adaptations. In Gaston Leroux's 1910 novel The Phantom of the Opera, his unmasked face is described as hideously deformed, like a rotting corpse...or a zombie. We all know he wore the infamous white mask to hide his deformities. He was a mentally-disturbed charismatic genius, with the voice of an angel, and a powerful love for a beautiful girl named Christine. I based my creation mostly on the book description of the Phantom.

Of course, this is a male character, but that doesn't mean a thing! It's Halloween, you can be whatever or whoever you want to be. For the costume, I am wearing a knee length black dress with a black cape. All I needed was a black top hat. Have fun, and make it your own!

LIPS:
  • For the gross part of my lips, I made my own prosthetic with liquid latex and toilet paper. Here is a great tutorial by GoldieStarling: CLICK HERE.
  • I then blended out and smoothed the edges of the prosthetic into my own skin using scar wax
  • I colored the prosthetic using a Halloween face paint palette
  • I then topped everything off using Manic Panic Lip Gloss in Radioactive
WIG:
  • Wavy brunette wig from Target last year, but you can easily find a similar one at Party City, eBay, or anywhere else that sells wigs

I really hope you guys enjoyed this Halloween look! The scars and lips were a bit of a challenge for me, but I am quite satisfied with the turnout. Have you decided on your costume yet? If so, what are you going to be? I'm going to try to post a couple of more Halloween looks for you guys if all goes well!

Take care, and I will leave you guys with this:

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

  14. We need a close up of that nasty lip!

And, grossness aside, the right side of your face actually looks really pretty, missing eyebrow and all haha

I have to ask, are your brows really as sparse as the one that's not filled in? You do an excellent job of filling them in, I would never have guessed!

  18. I was seriously contemplating on posting a close up of the lip, but it is SO gross that it's almost offensive, haha!

As for my brows, they are pretty sparse, but not as much as that photo makes it seem. They glue stick and concealer made them look a lot more wimpy than they are, haha. And thanks, I try hard to make my brows look as good as possible :)

  28. As for my brows, they're pretty thin, however not the maximum amount as that pic makes it appear. They glue stick and concealer created them look plenty a lot of wimpish than they're, haha. And thanks, I strive onerous to create my brows look nearly as good as attainable http://www.peoplesplumber.co.uk/plumber-lslington.html
