I am so excited to share these with you guys! I was contacted by Jena from the Makeup Geek staff and was asked if I'd be interested in trying out the new MUG Pigments. Of course I said yes! I am a such sucker for pigments, and when I found out that they released their own line of them, I jumped for joy. It's not a secret that I am obsessed with Makeup Geek pressed shadows, and these new pigments definitely did not disappoint! Prepare for the gorgeousness that is ahead...
The packaging is sleek and beautiful and look a lot more expensive than they really are. I love that the logo is printed rather than being a sticker. The matte black lids are so chic, too.

Here is a jar comparison from Makeup Geek with other popular pigments.
One thing to note is that these do not come with a sifter. That doesn't really bother me, but it can get quite messy, especially when the pigment gets twisted into the lid. I actually prefer sifter-less pigments, but my suggestion would be to possibly use taller jars in the future, just so I don't unnecessarily lose any precious product. There are currently a total of ten pigments, and they come packaged in a cute blue box with a little window showing you the pigment name.
Product descriptions from MakeupGeek.com
Afterglow: Soft Shimmery Champagne.
Birthday Wish: Shimmery Light Gold Peach.
My Thoughts: Afterglow is so stinkin' pretty! I totally agree with the product description. It's shimmery, glowy, insanely pigmented and smooth. Birthday Wish is one of my favorites of the bunch and I have been wearing it daily. It's the perfect rose-gold shade and it very pigmented as well. I actually wore this one without a primer a few times and it did not budge and stayed gorgeous all day.
Sweet Dreams: Light fleshed toned beige pink with slight shimmer.
New Year’s Eve: Light Gold Reflective Glitter.
My Thoughts: Sweet Dreams is my ideal everyday shade! It's the perfect color to swipe all over your lids for those days when you really don't want to spend much time in the mirror, especially if you have a light to medium skin tone. This is the least shimmery of all the pigments. It's also a dupe for MAC'S Naked Pigment. New Year's Eve is a stunner, and it's a shame that photographs do not do it justice. It's more of a glitter than a pigment, but it doesn't require a glitter glue like most cosmetic glitters do. I can best describe this pigment as a light gold base with flecks of gold, pink and green sparkles.
Enchanted: Light Plum Shimmer.
Paparazzi: Glittery Smokey Grey.
My Thoughts: Enchanted is a great purple for those who are too shy to wear a much bolder shade for daytime use. I think it's more of a medium than light plum, though. It goes on as smooth as butter! Paparazzi is an almost black, dark charcoal color with tons of multi-colored glitter! Pictures do not go it justice. It reminds me of Stella from Sugarpill.
Liquid Gold: True Metallic Gold.
Insomnia: A Duo-Chromed Teal/Bronze.
My Thoughts: I literally gasped when I opened up Liquid Gold. It is an intense metallic gold with a slight olive green undertone. At first it reminded me of Goldilux from Sugarpill, but they are quite different. This one is smoother, and greatly pigmented and metallic. I cannot wait to create a look using this baby! Definitely another favorite! When I first gazed upon Insomnia, I instantly thought of MAC's Blue Brown. It's nearly identical! I think this one leans more green than MAC's, and it's not quite as pigmented. Out of all the MakeupGeek pigments, this was the least pigmented when applied dried, but it performed well with a primer.
Utopia: An antiqued-gold glitter.
Prince Charming: Metallic cool silver.
My Thoughts: Okay, guys. I gasped thrice as hard when I saw Utopia and needed a towel to clean up the huge mess I made drooling over this pigment. IT IS A SHOWSTOPPER. Makeup Geek really outdid themselves with this one. At first glance, it looks like a chunky glitter. But once you apply it, the chunks break down and it leaves you a metallic, glittery finish that is out of this world. Hands down my favorite of the bunch, and it's unlike anything else I have in my makeup collection. It's also a dupe for MAC's Reflects in Antique Gold. Bravo! Prince Charming is a lovely metallic silver with a black base. It's very opaque and all around beautiful.

I couldn't wait to play with these, so I put this look together with some of the amazing pigments. I am wearing Utopia on the lid, Makeup Geek pressed shadow in Corrupt in the crease and lower lash line, Enchanted above the crease as well as the lower lid, and New Year's Eve on the tear duct. LOVE THESE SO MUCH.
Overall, these are spectacular and I am very, very impressed. Makeup Geek has yet to let me down, and I will continue to rave about them because they are simply amazing and offer high quality products for a small price tag! As I have already mentioned, these are smooth, pigmented, apply evenly and last for hours. They did not irritate my sensitive skin either, which is awesome. They did an excellent job with the colors, finish and performance of these pigments, and I cannot wait for more shades!
If you are interested in these incredible pigments, then head on over to www.makeupgeek.com/store. For $6.99 USD each, these are a steal! They ship worldwide too. The jars are rated for 1.5 grams of product weight, but the jars actually contain about 2 full grams of product. All of Makeup Geek's pigments are cruelty-free and talc-free.
Which shades are your favorite? Mine are definitely Utopia, Liquid Gold, New Years Eve and Birthday Wish. I am head over heels in love with all of them, though. They are THAT good.
I hope you enjoyed the review, swatches and look! I'm planning on some future looks using some of these, so be on the lookout for that. Take care!
xx
